Were Native American women forced to breed with the Spanish and Portuguese?
Q. During the colonization of the Americas, when the Spanish and Portuguese were colonizing the Americas, they bred with the Native American women. Were the women forced to mate with them? I find it hard to believe that the women happily volunteered themselves to be with the Iberians. So how did it really go down?

A. contrary to the wonderful fictional tale spun by another answerer, it was force. rape or simply theft. native women like white women at the time were seen as property of the man. and it wasn't just spaniards and portuguese. it was english, french, and every other european country that invaded these lands.
